In another sign we can expect an engagement announcement any day now, it’s been reported Prince Harry took Meghan Markle to tea with Queen Elizabeth.

A report by the Daily Mail’s British gossip columnist Richard Kay claims the secret meeting took place at Buckingham Palace recently, with Harry and Meghan arriving in a car with dark tinted windows so they could fly under the radar.

“Everything about the teatime meeting was deliberately informal, I am told,” Kay said.

“In part it was to settle any nerves Meghan might have felt but also to ensure it was not widely publicised within the palace.

“After being driven in to the inner courtyard, the couple were said to have been whisked up to the Queen’s private sitting room on the first floor overlooking the palace gardens and Constitution Hill, and which is served by a lift.

“According to an insider the couple arrived in time for tea at around 5pm.”

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: “We have refrained from commenting on all previous stories about Prince Harry introducing Meghan Markle to members of the Royal Family and therefore we have no comment.”

It’s been speculated that Meghan will leave her role as Rachel Zane on Suits when the seventh season wraps filming next month, and an announcement of her engagement to Prince Harry will soon follow, before or around Christmas time.

“Meghan loved playing Rachel and feels she owes so much to Suits,” and insider told The Sun.

“But Harry can’t move to Toronto, so she’ll have to move eventually if they want to be together.

“Her decision to give up the biggest role of her career would mean a lot.”

Last month Meghan and Harry stepped out in public as a couple for the first time, being affectionate with one another in the crowd at the Invictus Games in Toronto (top image).

The 36-year-old American strongly hinted at a future with Harry in an interview with Vanity Fair.

“We’re a couple. We’re in love,” she said.

“I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us.”
