According to reports, Meghan and Harry’s wedding reception consisted of “lethal” Bellini cocktails, “divine” wine and a dirty joke about “wet knickers” from the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William. More details about the joke are unknown.

But it was the Prince’s best and oldest friend Charlie van Straubenzee who gave us the best insight into Harry’s younger days. Speaking in front of the 200-strong guests at Frogmore House near Windsor castle, van Straubenzee reportedly told of Harry’s supposed non-acceptance of his hair colour. “Let’s face it — Harry’s a ginger. He was in denial for years, when he was young and used to hate other gingers,” the Sunday Times reports van Straubenzee as saying. “[And] he’s always so hungover when he plays [polo].”

It was when Straubenzee referenced Harry’s mum, the late Princess Diana, that the Prince teared up. A guest said: “[Straubenzee] described how awful it had been for Harry to go through everything and how proud all Harry’s friends are of how he has come through it. He told Harry how happy his mother would have been that he has found love with Meghan and how excited she would be to see them starting their lives together as a married couple. Harry was pretty emotional at that point.”

George Clooney also apparently remarked how it was wonderful to see two people actually in love. The reports says the actor noted how he’d been to many celebrity wedding but few were the right fit.

Meghan Markle also broke tradition by delivering a speech herself. According to US Weekly, Markle, 36, was teary-eyed as she spoke about her mother Doria Ragland. “She said, ‘You have always been there for me through everything,’” the insider paraphrases, noting that the bride did not mention her father, Thomas Markle, who was unable to attend due to reportedly undergoing recent heart surgery.
