Forget girl with the pearl earring – girl with the pearl eye makeup is where we’re at in 2019, according to the Ralph and Russo Haute Couture 2019 Fall runway show, anyway.

The brand, known for designs so exquisite that it counts actual royalty among its clientele, served up a beauty look so ethereal and dreamy that it almost rivalled the collection itself.

Characterised by creamy, illuminated skin, a whisper of blush, and a softly bitten lip stain, the overall theme was seemingly pure and angelic. The focal point though was the eye area, either washed with a monochromatic shadow (in varying tones of silver, lilac, and turquoise), or embellished with a tiny pearl in the inner corner.

According to MAC Cosmetics senior artist Nicole Thompson who was on the ground painting faces, the MAC Pro Palette Full Coverage Foundation was buffed in sparingly to even out skin tone and soften imperfections.

Unkempt hair lended itself perfectly, and natural movement remained its integrity by way of a lightly secured low chignon. A few loose strands were encouraged, and some looks even elevated with a pearl barrette.

The London-based design house is actually helmed by an Australian couple, Michael Russo and Tamara Ralph. In a dreamy garden setting though in Paris, the duo seems a million miles away from their hometowns of Brisbane and Cronulla respectively. It might be the pearls, or the feathers, or the swathes of tulle, but this runway certainly has us seeing stars.
