After the finale episode of Big Little Lies aired this month, HBO was quick to downplay any chance of there being a third season of the cult hit.

“I just think it’s not realistic,” Casey Bloys from HBO Programming said.

But BLL fans have been working hard on manifesting a third season, The Secret-style, and it seems to be working.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon all but confirmed they’re prepared to reprise their roles for a third time.

When asked about the final scene of the season three finale, when – SPOILER ALERT! – the Monterey Five walked into the police station, presumably to tell the truth about what happened on the night Perry Wright died, Kidman said:

“It’s so important not to discuss all of the intricacies of this, because if we do a season 3, there’s going to be things that will be explained.

“It’s probably better to allow just a little mystery,” she continued.

“I know the voracious appetite for knowledge and to leave no stone unturned. But I’m always going to fight for just a little bit…there can be a few mysteries and secrets held intact.”

Witherspoon also teased the likelihood of a third season, saying:

I totally agree! If there are conversations still to be had, I think that’s really what determines if we can tell a season 3. Is it as good as season 1 and 2? Does the audience still have questions? Do we have answers?”

When asked explicitly who will ultimately make the decision on whether to do season three or not, Kidman replied:

It’s a collaboration. We work as a group. We are incredibly tight; we talk to each other, and we are on each other’s side. So, we will decide as a group. We listen to the way in which people react because so much of TV is a very immediate medium. Every single person who has made this has said this show is bigger than any single one of us.”

Not to count our chickens, but that sounds like a resounding ‘yes’ to us. TBC.
