It’s a role with a slight twist from the usual “brand ambassador” or “spokesperson” title and one that sits in nicely with Elizabeth Arden’s entrepreneurial commitments – Academy Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon has just been announced as the brand’s Storyteller-in-Chief.
While we’ll still see Witherspoon involved in the more traditional aspects of being the “face” of a brand – think ad campaigns and social media promotion – she will also be using the role to tell stories of women who embody the brand’s values and characteristics. Encapsulating Elizabeth Arden’s legacy of pushing the boundaries – Arden founded her own company in 1910 at a time when women weren’t even allowed to vote – Witherspoon’s new role will see her encourage a new generation of women to go out and “make their mark”.
Explaining the role and their choice of Witherspoon, Elizabeth Arden president JuE Wong reveals: “We are thrilled to be working with Reese. In addition to her accomplishments as an actress, she is a successful entrepreneur — heading her own production, fashion and digital companies. Reese exemplifies the ideals of our founder and continues to break boundaries every day. Like Elizabeth Arden before her, Reese does not accept the standard, she sets it, making her the perfect person to represent the brand and engage with our consumers globally.”
Likewise, Witherspoon is thrilled about the appointment, stating: “One of the first things that drew me to the brand was its rich heritage and history of supporting women. As one of the first female entrepreneurs, Elizabeth Arden paved the way for women like me. It’s an honour to carry on her legacy and be part of such an iconic company that is committed to serving women.
“I’m excited to work as a creative partner alongside the Elizabeth Arden team, producing content that celebrates the spirit of the brand, highlighting female-centric stories that illustrate women’s true life experiences which unite us all.”
