For many, princess dreams run deep. Back to childhood days of dress-ups, pretending your little wooden chair was a carriage drawn by a dashing horse (aka your cocker spaniel). The cut of the dress was always the same: full skirt, puffy sleeves, embellished bodice. Your most prized piece of toddler couture: $20 from Target, do not leave near an open flame.

Perhaps this is part of our fascination with royal weddings. We relish in the feeling of being beautifully dressed up (not without a dash of Disney-blame) and these events bring it all home. While all the classicism, rules and tradition can be eye-rolling to the progressive side of our brain, the fashionable elegance and picture-perfectness is glorious to the other.

So, post Royal-Wedding-2018 and its unprecedented attention, it’s no surprise classicism as a visual trend has been revived (and done very little for the Aussie republican message). Aside from that Givenchy bridal gown, guests attending the nuptials have captured fashionable attention for their garden-party-style and royal-approved looks. Skirt suits, tailored jackets, A-line skirts, long sleeve maxi dresses and button-up collared décolletages all filled Windsor Castle. From showstopper Kitty Spencer in Dolce & Gabbana to actress Abigail Spencer in Alessandra Rich to Amal Clooney’s Stella McCartney tulip-cut dress to actress Gina Torres in Costarellos and actress Carey Mulligan is ethereal Erdem – this is regal-demure with a modern twist.

Alongside this, the emerging 2019 resort collections have been a vision of vintage feminine elegance. Many of the looks from the house of Dior, Oscar de la Renta and in particular Zac Posen would suit spring affairs in the Cotswolds/London/Buckingham Palace.

So while you may have graduated from twirling at home in a Cinderella gown, should you ever be invited to a royal wedding (or actually just any wedding), you’ll be sartorially set.
