If you, like me, are still digesting the sad break-up of Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk, the following news might give you some more food for thought.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Cooper and Shayk had been unhappy for some time, with their relationship deteriorating rapidly while the actor filmed A Star Is Born.

Despite wanting to split, the couple was “advised against it” because it would not be a good look to break up while Cooper was promoting A Star Is Born, and that it could even overshadow Cooper’s performance.

It’s unclear who told the actor and model, who share daughter Lea, two, they should delay the break-up. Perhaps it was someone involved with the film, who feared all anyone would ask Bradley about was his personal life, not the movie.

It’s strange to look back now at photos and videos of Bradley and Irina from around the time A Star Is Born came out, and when they attended the Oscars together. Nothing seemed amiss. When you think about it, it’s incredible they were able to weather the storm of rumours sparked by his insane chemistry with Lady Gaga.

According to Entertainment Tonight, it was Irina, not Bradley, who finally ended things for good.

“Recently, Irina decided enough is enough,” the source said.

“She didn’t feel she was getting the level of commitment she wanted and the endless fighting made their life unbearable. They are very different people, and once they realised it was the baby that was holding them together, it was time to call it quits.”

We’ll never know for sure what went wrong for the seemingly happy couple. But Cooper’s insane schedule as one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood, and the commitment required of him to bring A Star Is Born to life must have been a factor.

“Irina truly had high hopes for their future together and felt once the baby was born they would find the time to marry but that never came to fruition,” the source said.

“She wanted more from Bradley in every way … she felt he spent too much time working.”
