The other night in Los Angeles, fashion powerhouse Boohoo threw the party to end all parties. It was a taste of sin city in the city of angels. There were poker tables, shiny disco balls, and booths stocked up with magnums of Belvedere on ice (or a glass of Moet – just pick your poison). Held at LA hot spot The Nightingale, the agenda was simple: have a good time. It didn’t take long for the sun to slip behind the Hollywood Hills, and all those inside the venue to shed the working week in favour of a little frivolity.
By 9 p.m., the party was undoubtedly in full swing, but the guests of honour were yet to arrive: Romee Strijd, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Yvonne Simone, Paris Hilton, Sofia Ritchie, and Diplo (who kindly lended his talents to keeping the dance floor alive well into the night). Post media wall, the A-list crew slipped into the venue, occupying an elevated booth right next to the DJ. There was dancing and a lot of Instagram moments, especially from party queen Paris Hilton (who lasted the entire night in a towering pair of stilettos, mind you). She also wore huge Versace sunglasses in a darkened club – admirable dedication from the world’s favourite socialite.
Even amidst the chaos, GRAZIA managed to steal a minute with Romee and Elsa, who fronted the recent Summer’s Greatest Hits collection from Boohoo. A curation of tiny party dresses, 90s neon swimsuits, and gelato-hued twin sets, the range is all about warm days, warmer nights and, as discussed, having a good time. GRAZIA: WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO PARTY OUTFIT?
Romee: I love feathers! And anything sequinned, especially around party season and the holidays. Typically, I love something glamorous that I’d never wear during the day. A party is the perfect time to go all out – glitter, colour, the works!
Elsa: A little black dress. I literally never travel without one, because you just never know what invite might come your way. Another favourite is a tonal, neutral outfit. I like this if it’s cooler and I want to wear a sweater out.
GRAZIA: WHAT CITY THROWS THE BEST PARTIES?
Elsa: Beirut! I was there recently and went to one of the best parties ever. The music and people were amazing. I danced all night.
Romee: Amsterdam! A little biased, but they really do.
GRAZIA: SONG THAT’S GUARANTEED TO GET YOU ON THE DANCE FLOOR?
Elsa: Dua Lipa – Don’t Start Now. It’s new and I love it.
Romee: Anything Beyonce. Already with Major Lazer is my favourite though. I love a good anthem.
GRAZIA: DRINK ORDER?
Romee: Kombucha? I do love a glass of Champagne, too!
Elsa: We’re obsessed with Matcha! But maybe that’s what we order the next morning.
GRAZIA: TRICK FOR WEARING SHOES THAT WON’T SEND YOU HOME EARLY?
Romee: There is no trick. Grin and bare it! If you have any, let me know! Ha ha. Although I often bring spare shoes if I’m really worried I’ll not be able to last.
Elsa: When I was younger and went to clubs often, I used to go out with those little roll up flats. Sometimes I still do that, or leave a set in the car in case of emergencies.
