Victoria’s Secret angel Romee Strijd has worked out tirelessly to be runway ready for the show in Shanghai. The petite model has spent many hours in the gym, toning every inch with small weights and resistance bands, as evident in her Instagram videos and those from her trainer.
One day before she was due to hit the VS runway, the 22-year-old model posted a contentious selfie. “Getting in the mood for tomorrow’s lingerie event of the century, so excited for my outfits and the runway, can’t wait for you all to see soon!” she wrote. “Let’s do this @victoriassecret.” Within seconds critics and fans alike were commenting on Strijd’s thin 1.77 metre frame. “Romee, good luck for the show, love you but have noticed you are losing so much weight. Please be careful – keep healthy!” one fan wrote. “@victoriassecret unimpressed with the body image you’re selling. A beautiful girl with an amazing catwalk and attitude but way too thin,” said another. Some concerned fans begged her to“eat something before the show so you don’t faint” while other went as far to advise the model to “get help for your eating disorder.”
Strijd has always been naturally thin and posts a lot of workout videos that she does with her boyfriend online. She also did do incredible job during the VS show. We’d love to hear your opinion on this one: Why do people feel it’s OK to body bash a public figure? In your opinion, is Romee Strijd compromising a healthy body image? And were the comment too far or just out of concern?
