It’s not launching until April 20, but today we got a sneak peek at what could possibly be one of the most spectacular product previews that has ever been released. And who would expect anything less when it’s a collab involving Urban Decay and Ruby Rose.

Inspired by neo-expressionist painter Jean-Michel Basquiat – the upcoming Urban Decay x Jean-Michel Basquiat collection sees Rose getting a little creative with the campaign imagery. We’re talking getting down and dirty with paint brushes and spray cans. And while we hate to think how much makeup was killed in the making of this look, the imagery is outstanding.

Releasing the first visuals of the campaign via Instagram, Urban Decay reveals: “Beauty junkies know art is makeup, makeup is art. Introducing our latest collab: Urban Decay x Jean-Michel Basquiat. You’re going to want to get your hands on this SERIOUSLY limited-edition collection.”

Featuring 27 limited-edition products that include a blush, eyeliners, eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, and cosmetics bags – the range is available in colours inspired by Basquiat’s estate, with the packaging produced in some of the graffiti artist’s famed pieces.

While Basquiat tragically passing away in 1988 due to a heroin overdose, we’re saw that if he ever envisioned being the inspiration for a beauty range – then it would look exactly like this. Makeup as art, indeed.
