The Governors Awards don’t typically get as much hype as the Oscars or Golden Globes, but that doesn’t mean this year went without a few spectacular highlights. My favourite one is undoubtedly Scarlett Johannson wearing an extremely intricate, beautiful, shimmering winged liner look. It’s a new take on the classic cat eye; a feline flick that extends from the outer corner before pivoting underneath the bottom lash line. The pièce de résistance is a dusting of gold glitter at the inner corner, adding an element of luxury and reflecting the incredible metallic beadwork on her Celine dress. The subverted liner look is perfect for elongating a round or hooded eye, given that both corners are clean and directional. With such a bold eye, there’s little need for anything else – just pink cheeks, pink lips, and a little clear brow gel. Oh, and chunky gold cuffs to pay homage to her superhero roots. Red carpet heaven.
