Selena Gomez gave her only live performance of 2017 at the American Music Awards overnight, taking to the stage to sing her new track Wolves.

The only problem is, some don’t believe Gomez was actually singing during her much hyped comeback, accusing her of lip-syncing instead of singing live.

At certain times throughout the performance, the audio does seem out of sync with her moves. Of course, it’s possible Gomez was just using the support of a backing track since the performance required her to dance and move around a lot.

At the end of the song Selena appeared to shrug slightly, which could have hinted at some disappointment at how the performance went.

Regardless, Selena’s loyal fans have her back. Some denied she was lip-syncing, saying those accusing her are just haters, while others argued that given she’s recovering from a life-saving kidney transplant, she did extremely well.

Less controversial but still certain to divide opinions is Selena’s dramatic hair change: she arrived at the AMAs blonde after being brunette for as long as we can remember.
