When the news broke in July that Demi Lovato had suffered a drug overdose, some friends of the star, including Justin Bieber, wished her well publicly.

But not Selena Gomez. Demi’s one-time best friend, after the pair met as child stars on the show Barney & Friends, was pictured looking emotional in the following days wearing a T-shirt printed with the words “keep the faith” but did not speak publicly about it.

Now, Gomez has opened up on why she’s stayed silent the last few months.

“All I’m saying is, I reached out personally,” she said in a new interview.

“I didn’t do a public thing. I didn’t want to. I…I love her. I’ve known her since I was seven. So…it’s…that’s what I’ll say.”

Selena’s comment comes as Demi’s Hollywood Hills home – where she overdosed and was found unconscious in her bedroom by an assistant – was put on the market.

TMZ reports the mansion, which Lovato bought in September 2016 for US $8.3 million, has been listed for US$9.495 million.

It’s thought the Sober singer has not been back to the house since she was taken away in an ambulance. Following her hospital stay, she headed straight to rehab.
