In a world where movements such as #TimesUp and #MeToo are at the front of the social agenda, it’s almost impossible to comprehend how are we still seeing trolls attack young women’s bodies online. Such was the case for Selena Gomez who sneakily flew into Sydney yesterday and was spotted in a bikini on a yacht in the harbour.

This was the first time the singer was spotted in swimwear since undergoing a kidney transplant last year. Unfortunately – and quite shockingly– online bullies took this opportunity to call out the curvier star. Now, Gomez has responded. In an Instagram video collage of her boating festivities – and set to Alvvays track Dream Tonite – Gomez addressed the controversy. “The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty,” she wrote. “I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails.”

“She’s just trying to enjoy herself and is spending quality time with her friends,” a source reportedly told PEOPLE. “She’s happy and healthy… She’s slowly working on new music but isn’t rushing it. She’s also busy designing her collaboration with Coach and has been super involved in the process.”

The 25-year-old was privately battling lupus for some time and last year underwent a kidney transplant. Her best friend Francia Raisa was the donor. While the singer was soaking up our Autumn rays, her on-again-off-again ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber was seen out with 22-year-old Sports Illustrated model Baskin Champion. The pair likely met through Patrick Schwarzenegger who is dating Baskin’s sister, Abby (a GRAZIA magazine past cover star). They were all at the premiere for Bella Thorne’s Midnight Sun together a week before.
