For millennials, social media ‘firsts’ have become just as important as other, more traditional milestones. Which is why it’s big news that The Weeknd has posted a loved-up photo of him and Selena Gomez on his Instagram account.
And it’s not just a casual snap. The picture, uploaded late at night when the couple were at a party in Los Angeles according to E! News, is an intimate one, showing Gomez pulling the singer towards her and planting a kiss on his forehead.
You know you’re a big deal when you post a dark, blurry photo with no caption and it almost breaks the internet. Eleven hours after the Starboy singer uploaded the shot, it’s well on its way to garnering a million likes.
The couple technically became Instagram official in January when Gomez posted a photo of The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye on Instagram while they were in Venice together, but it was only live for a few minutes before she apparently got cold feet and took it down.
Selena and Abel were spotted kissing outside a LA restaurant in early January. Sources later confirmed that their romance had been going on for several months before the sighting, meaning there appeared to be some overlap for The Weeknd between Bella Hadid and Selena. There was some public tension, but all that seems to have died down now, leaving Selena and Abel to post loved-up selfies in peace.
