For a brief moment, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd were Instagram official.
The new couple are on holiday in Italy, where they took in Florence and then Venice, which was where Gomez decided to take the plunge and share a five-second video of the Starboy singer to her 108 million Instagram followers.
But it seems she got cold feet, because soon the video, which showed The Weeknd in a boat and was accompanied by a simple-but-to-the-point ‘heart eyes’ emoji, had disappeared.
Of course, The Internet knows celebrities have a tendency to post-and-delete, so thankfully Selena and The Weeknd’s brief time as an Instagram official couple was screen-shotted to exist in the depths of the ‘net forever more.
It seems a bit odd though, because as the most followed person on Instagram, and clearly aware of the mind-blowing amount of eyeballs on her account, Selena’s post would be carefully considered and approved by several people before they’re published. It smells just a little of game playing, no?
Things are said to be icy still between the new couple and The Weeknd’s ex Bella Hadid, who was reportedly shocked and hurt when photos of the Can’t Feel My Face singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, and Selena kissing were published online.
But it appears Selena and The Weeknd have no interest in keeping things on the down-low for a while, if this very public Italian vacation is anything to go by. Also, is it just us, or is a trip to Italy a bit too reminiscent of Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s whirlwind tour of love, which included Rome? And we all know how that ended.
