As Selena Gomez and The Weeknd celebrated their first Valentine’s Day together, the new couple spared no expense.

Photos published by the Daily Mail and circulating on social media show Selena and the Starboy singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, spent an early V-Day on a luxury yacht docked at Marina Del Ray in Los Angeles on Saturday night, the evening before he performed at the Grammys and they hit an after party together.

The photos show the couple, who were revealed to be dating just last month, curled up on the deck of the luxury yacht, before heading down to a lower level to enjoy a meal prepared by a private chef. The boat headed out to sea around midnight.

The Daily Mail reports that the yacht, the 143-ft, four deck Leight Star, can be hired for USD $5000 an hour, or upwards of AUD $6,500.

Days after their over-the-top luxury date, an insider has told E News! that Selena, 24 and Abel, 26, have a “crazy connection” and have been talking about becoming exclusive.

“They are falling for each other,” a source apparently told the site, adding that Gomez says her new man makes her “feel really confident”, and “Abel is proud to have Selena by his side.”

It was thought they might make their first red carpet appearance as a couple at this week’s Grammys, although Selena did not attend the ceremony, instead joining him at Rihanna’s after party. By all reports, they left together in a car after the event.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd’s ex Bella Hadid has spoken publicly for the first time about their break-up, after they split in November.

In an interview with Teen Vogue magazine, she said she’d found the break-up difficult, but she had no ill will towards her ex.

“As an outsider, you might think I handled it so well, but it’s always in your heart, and you always feel it very heavily. It’ll be hard for a while. Love hurts, but you have to pull through.”

“I’ll always respect him, and I’ll always love him,” she said. “Sometimes you want to be sad about it or handle it differently, but at the end of the day, you never want to burn a bridge that you’ve fought so hard to build.”
