Every socially-conscious celebrity knows it’s now cool to wearing your heart on your sleeve – or to be specific, your slogan tee – but here’s a way you can make your carry-all count on International Woman’s Day too.
Australian fashion label Ginger & Smart has released a limited edition Strong and Kind canvas tote with leather handle, created as part of a partnership with the Sydney Women’s Fund to support migrant and refugee women.
“We designed the tote and it was then beautifully made by the kind and strong women of the Women’s Friendship Sewing Circle, who have fled trauma and torture in their home countries and now call Sydney home,” Alexandra and Genevieve Smart told GRAZIA.

The bag’s graphic print bears the words Strong and Kind and is inspired by the Sydney Community Foundation’s umbrella organization Be Kind Sydney.
“All proceeds will go to the SWF’s Women’s Friendship Sewing Circle and will enable women to gain work skills and make lasting friendships,” the designers said. The bag will be available on the Ginger & Smart website until the end of March, and it’s hoped enough money will be raised to fund the Sewing Circle for another year.
Why did the Smarts choose March 8 to launch the special product? “International Women’s Day marks a call to action to progress gender parity and is a day to remind us all to do what we can to make a positive difference for women,” they point out. True words indeed.
