After a bleak week and an overall difficult year for the world – as summed up perfectly by US late night host John Oliver – Sia has dropped the feel-good track we all need right now, Never Give Up.

The latest release from the Australian Grammy-winner is the theme song for new movie Lion, which stars Nicole Kidman, Dev Patel and Rooney Mara, about an Australian couple that adopt a five-year old boy from India who grows up and returns to his birth country to explore his roots.

The film’s partial setting in India explains the track’s Bollywood sound, and while the lyrics are fitting for the film’s theme, Never Give Up is an inspiring listen for anyone in need of a pick-me-up after weeks of depressing news out of the US, with lyrics such as: “And I won’t let you get me down, I’ll keep gettin’ up when I hit the ground.”

It follows a trend of upbeat releases from Sia: this year she also dropped feel-good party hits Cheap Thrills and The Greatest, the latter of which she used the video to pay tribute to the victims of the gay nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida.

Never Give Up is available on iTunes and Spotify now.
