Sia has posted a photo of herself naked online to thwart the sale of unauthorized paparazzi pictures.

The Chandelier singer tweeted a screengrab of an image of her naked body standing on a balcony, clearly taken without her knowledge. The screengrab also shows text that reads “If you make the purchase it will be unblurred and you will receive and [sic] additional 14 images.”

It’s not clear how the Australian artist came to be aware of the image, but she made the decision to post it online herself to make it less valuable.

“Someone is apparently trying to sell naked photos of me to my fans,” she captioned the pic.

“Save your money, here it is for free. Everyday is Christmas!”

The Christmas joke is a not-so-subtle reference to her new festive season album, Everyday Is Christmas which is out November 17.

The existence of the nude, unauthorized photos must have been a blow to the Grammy winner, who has been vocal about her desire for privacy and has refused to be photographed for several years.

Explaining her reasons for wearing a wig that covers her face most of the time, she told NPR in 2014:

“I thought it would be a funny joke that I’m getting away with. And it was, partly, I don’t wanna go out and sell my soul, my body, my peace of mind.”

It’s also to ensure her career as a singer and songwriter is sustainable, as she told Interview magazine in 2015.

“I’m 39, and I would like to be able to make great pop music for another 20 years. And it feels like creating a sort of inanimate blond bob and allowing other people to play the role of the pop singer, it affords me a little bit more freedom in terms of my expiration date.”
