Festival beauty is the best kind of beauty – uninhibited and awash with colour. Byron-based Splendour In The Grass is making landfall this weekend, and it’s the perfect time to flex your creative makeup muscles. Glossy finishes, candy hues and hair that isn’t fashioned in a boring pony are all welcome – fun and frivolous without being a festival cliché. Melissa Whitelaw (or @edgeofmydesire as she’s known on Instagram) is the perfect Splendour road-test for GRAZIA, taking cues from Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Ray on how to go about the three-day event. With hair by Anthony Nader, and makeup by Elsa Morgan, consider these beauty notes your weekend style guide.

LANA

The queen of festival cool, Lana just wouldn’t be Lana without a crown made of florals. A few wispy pieces around the face will keep it modern, while lolly pink lips sweeten the deal. Keep it tonal with a swirl of pink blush.

MILEY

Miley may have seen some beauty revolutions, but the space bun is one we love her for. Low-fuss but high impact, part hair down the centre and pile high before fastening. Glossy lids and a peach lip are the only accompaniments you need.

Ariana

Queen of volume, festival Ariana skips the sleek pony for something a little less inhibited. Swishy length and volume from roots to tips is her look of choice – add a fluffy mousse when blow drying for maximum height that will last the distance. The quintessential girl’s girl, it wouldn’t be Ariana without a pop of pink, either. Avoid obvious lips and cheeks, and go for pastel liner instead. Lashings of mascara will keep it bold and photogenic.
