While the goings-on outside the big fashion week shows are often elaborate peacock parades (seriously: some ‘guests’ turn up just to be photographed and don’t even go inside), sometimes the stars align and we see folks arrive in outfits that are so perfect, so wearable it’s a delightful relief. After all, many fashion experts would argue it’s easier to throw on something outrageous to attract the photographers than to be clever, classy and pull together seriously show-stopping real life look.
Perhaps it’s because Fendi is regarded a classic brand with a storied design history, and not caught up in the drama and theatrics that swirl around other trendy high-profile fashion labels, but these chic men and women snapped by our photographer outside its Autumn/Winter 2018 runway show were show-stoppers in their own right.
The overwhelming mood: check, check and more check, generally presented in the form of a well-cut suit or blazer. Big, bold block colours, tailored coats and box bags were out in force too. What each of these looks has in common is the fact they’re almost universally flattering and so easy to copy as we head into Australia’s autumn. Milan show-goers, your pragmatism never fails to inspire us.
