If you, like us, have envisioned yourself catching the train in Paris in head-to-toe Chanel, baguette in hand, humming along to Édith Piaf, then your Francophile fantasy has just come true (well, kind of).

To mark the unveiling of Chanel Cruise 2019/20, the House invites you to travel with Chanel and its heroines via a series of mesmeric films which follow moments of transit at the Gare de Lyon (a vicarious trip, but a trip nonetheless). Onboard is Chanel’s band of très chic women – Caroline de Maigret, Soo Joo Park, Tami Williams, Ola Rudnicka and Amanda Sanchez – who engage in a mysterious back-and-forth exchange through Paris’ most famed train station, to what sounds like a catchy mash-up of Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’.

Embodying both the grace and the frenzy of the journey, the timeless elegance of Chanel transpires in different ways on the different women. There’s the cool, calm, collectedness of Soo Joo Park, a vision in a long tweed jacket in hot pink and hint of logo jersey legging.

Tami Williams struts in a blue suit with a large white bow bursting forth, while Amanda Sanchez dabbles in a romantic dalliance with a lover in double-button trousers.

Or Ola Rudnicka, who picks up her son in pointed slingback pumps and Chanel’s 31 bag in faded denim. Even a flustered Caroline de Maigret – who stomps through the station in glossy two-tone booties with conical heels and hooded trench coat belted at the waist – looks impossibly chic despite papers flying everywhere.

In a few flashes, be it running for the train or in repose in a carriage, the Chanel woman appears in all her singularity. Whatever her purpose, wherever her destination, these five, strong, stylish women are at the crossroads of different worlds yet come together – in Chanel, of course.

The Cruise collection will be available from November 15th in the CHANEL boutiques.
