Is it possible that one boxy-cut, high-neck, short-sleeve tee is able to create multiple different minimalist looks for the season? Yes it is. And for just $20.

Minimalism is a look that never tires. It’s a simplistic, often monochrome style that pleasingly feeds our aesthetic OCD. This season’s take on minimalism slides towards the sculptural and oversized. Inspired by labels like Celine, Ellery, Acne and of course, The Row; the brainchild of child-mega-stars-turned-serious-fashion-fodder, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Since their graduation from childhood sitcom TV to fashion designers, The Olsen’s have been poster-women for minimalist, androgynous fashion. Despite their hair, make-up and accessories being distinctly gritty-bohemian, they have become known for their oversized jackets, wide-cut tees and accentuated shapes.

So right now we’re channelling our favourite less-is-chic celebs, designers and street-stylers and going artistically minimal. The wide cut and loose, high neck of this tee makes it not only impressively on trend but also the season’s most versatile, flattering and bargain-priced piece to make-over your minimalist look.

With inspiration from some of our favourite style stars, here are five key ways to wear it with pieces you already own. Minimal look, minimal spend, maximal use…and it comes in four colours…

How to style it…

1.  White on white or black on black

Style the tee open and out over a cropped or tailored pair of your monochrome trousers. Set the look off with some ankle boots or pointed flats in black or white.

2. Tucked into an midi skirt or tailored trouser

This tee can also be tailored when paired with a sharp partner. Tuck it into a pair of suit-style trousers or an a-line skirt then wear with chic sculptured sunglasses or your best black handbag and a pair of kitten heels or dressy flats.

3. Worn over slouchy trousers

Take on volume by wearing it with some wide-leg palazzo-style trousers. Keep with the floaty cut and add a long-line cardi or a fluid jacket. Keep your hair loose and wear with some white trainers.

4. With simple blue jeans

Take your everyday jeans and tee combo and give it an easy update. Wear loose over your favourite blues. Extra points for a cropped pair.

5. Layered under a tailored blazer

Take the high neck and use it for its warmth-factor. Layer under your tailored blazer and tuck it into your most high-waist jeans or trousers. This is ladylike minimalism at its best.
