The 25th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards is in full swing in California which can only mean one thing: spectacular fashion (and acting awards, of course).

As celebrities stream the Critics’ Choice Awards red carpet (or rather blue carpet) in Santa Monica, striking colour, racer-style high-necks and warrior armour have been the standout trends thus far.

It was Xena Warrior Princess meets Barbie for Zendaya; the singer hitting the night’s biggest fashion home run as a Tom Ford warrior woman in molten-like breast plate and simple column skirt in bright fuchsia (and styled by our favourite Law Roach).

Us star Lupita Nyong’o also got the warrior memo, wearing a chocolate brown Michael Kors gown which featured a leather harness-like bodice and softly gathered skirt.

A fresh squeeze, Laura Dern looked glorious in zesty tangerine gown by Emilia Wickstead with racer-front neckline and full skirt.

Jennifer Lopez also opted for a fitted upper, but instead of fanning out with A-line effect like Dern’s, it nipped her hourglass shape with the kind of va-va-voom one would expect of Versace.

Nicole’s Kidman opted for a strapless bodice gown by Armani, which cinched her waist with a satin belt and fell with dramatic, intricate lace.

While Beanie Feldstein kept it short(er) and sweet; the cute-as-pie dress in two-tone bubblegum pink and cherry red providing a pop of colour.

Florence Pugh was a shining light in Prada, the sublime embellished frock adding some much needed sparkle on the blue carpet.

Cynthia Erivo was a knockout in Fendi, its graphic geometric print, dramatic blouson sleeves and theatrical train a sartorial highlight of the night.

While Mandy Moore was a big fan of her Anita Ko necklaces, which she stacked and then kept discreet with a neck-tie cape and chain-embellishment black jumpsuit.
