Last week, we brought you our first instalment of party dressing: the work Christmas party. A party defined by more modest hemlines and a sophisticated (yet still superbly sparkly) touch, this time we take a slight party detour, landing at the famous girls Christmas lunch (and then some).
A party which takes the higher fashion ground, the much-anticipated girls Christmas get-together is when to bring out your fashion big guns; a place to try those tricky trends or go guns ‘a blazing in all-out glamour. It’s a safe space, an encouraging space, where no one is met by doubt or disdain just encouragement and glorious cheer. It’s also an event that can quickly turn: from sophisticated lunch at a Merivale venue (of course), to rowdy cocktails at a nearby bar, to even rowdier dancing until the wee hours, your outfit must reflect both a level of chicness and wearability. Case in point: an ankle-grazing palazzo pant does not fare well on the muddy (and rather questionable) floors of Ravesi’s (and vice versa, a skimpy sequin dress also doesn’t sit well at Sean’s). So when deciding on your party outfit, one must consider the following: a) fashion b) a smidge of function and of course c) being fabulous.
So charge a celebratory champagne with the girls in our edit below, which features a dash of panache, a little sparkle and high-kick of fashion. And if doubt, look to the eternally glamorous friendship of Gilda Ambrosio, Giorgia Tordini and Amina Muaddi, because if anyone is going to the get the fashion party started, it’s them.
