In just two short years of landing a coveted Victoria’s Secret runway contract, Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro will walk in the fantasy bra at December’s show in Shanghai. Overnight, the lingerie giant broke the news to the model mum. “I never cried so much in my entire life – and I have a baby,” Ribeiro told PEOPLE. “It was so emotional. I couldn’t believe it when they told me. It was so beautiful.” Watch the moment here:
The piece, titled Champagne Nights Fantasy Bra and comprising of almost 6000 handset diamonds, yellow sapphires and blue topaz, is valued at AUD $2.59 million and took almost 350 hours to create.
The 27-year-old who, like Jasmine Tookes before her (who wore the diamond creation last year) is a mum to nine-year-old son Alexandre. Ribeiro has spent a lot of time working with personal trainer Kirk Myers at New York City’s DogPound on the Lower East Side and it appears to have paid off with VS directors choosing Ribeiro as the star this year.
New Zealand born-Australian-raised model and fellow VS super Georgia Fowler (who is returning for her second show this year) was first to jump on Instagram to congratulation friend Ribeiro. “Congratulations darling on wearing the fantasy bra this year!” she wrote. “YOU’LL SLAY!!!”
In most recent times, it’s Candice Swanepoel who has held the crown for the fantasy bra walk. Can Ribeiro take it from her?
