The new Gigi Hadid x Tommy Hilfiger collection drops globally today

Exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpse into her creative input, from the design studio stage right through to campaign and today’s London Fashion Week show

We’re not even half way through this season’s big fashion week show circuit and we’ve already seen Gigi Hadid stride down a dozen big-stakes runways. But there was something extra special about her appearance in Tommy Hilfiger’s Rock Circus Fall 2017 extravaganza last night during London Fashion Week: she was surrounded by models wearing clothes she’d co-created.

This ‘Shop Now’ presentation (meaning all pieces became available to buy as the show happened in some countries, not including Australia) is the second to including a capsule range designed by Hadid, who – as well as being the ultimate poster girl right now for that all-American Hilfiger girl look – has long been a close friend of the luxe street brand.

In a departure from the usual fashion week format, which sees events follow the traditional ‘show, then campaign shoot months later, then products drop months after that’ the folks at Hilfiger turned things on their head this time around.

As you can garner from these Australian exclusive images of Hadid in the brand’s design studios, she was heavily involved in the creative side of the clothes’ and accessories – including chunky soled check-print brogues and cute patent-look backpack – inception.

The collection – based around a palette of red, white and classic denim blue, as well as flannel check prints – intentionally caters to the opposite seasons for customers in northern and southern ends of the globe.

There’s distressed denim shorts, ultra-cropped tops and a checked shift dress for climates like Australia’s where the weather’s hotting up. For cooler climes like Europe and America, a velvet overcoat, faux leather leggings and knit beanie with Hadid’s name emblazoned in rock star font all tick practical boxes right now.

Unsurprisingly, Hadid also stars in the advertising campaign for the collection, which is available from today at stores in Sydney (Westfield Parramatta and Westfield Sydney), Melbourne (Chadstone and Melbourne Central), Adelaide (Burnside Village) and Queensland (Pacific Fair).
