As tide-turning as his autumn winter 19 collection was in New York in February, Marc Jacob’s wedding sparked serious joy for those in attendance. The darling of New York married his long-term boyfriend Charly “Char” Defrancesco in an intimate ceremony at The Pool in the city on Saturday before heading to The Grill in Midtown for a reception to end all wedding receptions.

The grooms wore matching diamond onyx penguin pins – a gift from Prada and Miu Miu designer director Fabio Zambernardi – “Penguins have only one partner and mate for life. A great example of faithfulness and fidelity,” Jacobs wrote on his Instagram. Like his runway creations, his guests arrived in voluminous style – both figuratively and (very) literally. Naomi Campbell, Emily Ratajkowski, Kaia Gerber, Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Rita Ora, Lil Kim, Gigi and Bella Hadid were all gifted hoodies which cheekily read “I came to Marc and Char’s wedding celebration and all I got was this lousy sweatshirt.” The gift was embroidered with two otters holding hands and a message that read “Don’t float away”.

Customised “Marc and Char” vaping pens were also gifted. The cake was five tiers and guests watched a video montage of the couple’s vows on a big screen. “It is a privilege to be with you and have you in my life,” Jacobs told Defrancesco. “I promise you that I will never take you for granted. I promise to hear you and understand you. What you have given me is something I’ve never had before. It’s the dream to have a forever.”

“I was so amazed and so humbled that such a remarkable and brilliant man would want to love me,” Defrancesco said.

Other guests included Anna Sui, Anna Wintour Phoebe Philo (yes, she’s alive!), Humberto Leon, Kim Jones, Pat McGrath and Katie Grand who wore one of Jacob’s creations from the aforementioned AW 19 collection. Take a peek inside.
