Be in deep sea diving in fresh-water pearls and perspex, unearthing shells and gilded treasure, or lounging in lycra and linen – Australians know what resort dressing means. Our entire Fashion Week is dedicated to Resort, and our designers define the category which has seemingly assumed all ranks in our wardrobe. Considering they are so well-versed in the art of holiday – and with the hot call of an European summer beckoning – we ask the women behind the linen what exactly they pack in their beauty bags before leaving on a jet plane.

First up, Lucy Folk. The Melbourne-born, sometimes-Bondi, part-time-Paris jewellery designer made her spectacular foray into resort wear just last year; debuting a very striped, very colourful collection of boilers, Bermudas, bathers and the like. Add a terry towelling robe, turban and sunglass with chain – which has now become part of the Bondi sartorial vernacular – and the Australian resort equation is complete. So what does the queen of resort pack when she herself vacays?

What is your beauty philosophy when it comes to summer holidays?
Hydrate your skin, wear sunscreen, and a hat, keep it minimal. I think women look best when they don’t try too hard. I like to ensure I have a fresh manicure and pedicure. I often don’t have polish on my finger nails as I like for them to grow and absorb the vitamin D. I always have painted toes. My hair can get dry from too much swimming so I will apply a serum to my ends.

What’s your in-flight beauty routine?
I don’t eat. I drink a lot of water and herbal tea. I cleanse, tone and moisturise frequently. I never wear make-up. If I am flying from Australia to Europe I will always have a shower in transit and apply a body oil.

What’s your number one travel tip?
I don’t drink any alcohol on flights. Lately I fast. It means I arrive fresh and don’t suffer from extreme jet-lag.

What’s your favourite spot overseas to stock up on beauty?
There is a store called Oh My Cream in Paris – a short walk from my house – that I like. Also Glow on the Go in Paris has a lot of natural skincare from the USA. I go there daily to get a Matcha Latte. They got me onto the brand Sun Potions and Cap Beauty.

What is your ultimate summer destination to escape the Australian winter?
Formentera in Spain. I am going there for three weeks this Summer! I am counting the days!

Are you going away this winter?
I am on a plane as I write this. I live in Europe for 5-7 months of the year. I will be in Paris mostly, but also Positano, Formentera, Ibiza and Tuscany.

and what will you be packing?
Toga sandals, Raf Simons Slides, Miu Miu sandals, Isa Arfen dresses, Julien David lace skirt, T’shirts from Carne Bollente, Jac + Jack, Solid and Striped Swim, Marysia Swim, Eres Swim. A hell of a lot of sunnies! Epice sarongs, LF Basket bags. Nick Fouquet hats and Muhlbauer. I usually take most of what you see in PLAYA or The Salon! And I will be packing my entire LF Collection.
