In an attempt to keep the show’s cliff-hanger spoilers from leaking onto the internet, cast members do not receive scripts anymore prior to their scenes. We repeat, they do not receive scripts – hard or soft copies – before they hit the set.

The extreme lengths were revealed by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who plays Jaime Lannister in the fantasy thriller. In a new interview with Scandinavian talk show Skavlan, the actor recounted how for the first couple of seasons, the cast were sent usual hard copies in advance to study and learn their lines. As the show’s popularity increased and the episode endings became a highly valuable need-to-know, scripts were distributed via verified email accounts.
