Elle’s Women of Hollywood event was held at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills on Sunday night and the girl squad was STRONG.

Nicole Kidman, Zendaya, Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon, Ruby Rose, Margot Robbie, Jameela Jamil and loads more turned up for the gala, celebrating the women honoured in Elle’s annual Women In Hollywood issue, and attended by fellow fabulous females (and a few males) in the industry.

Gwynnie was called up to make a speech but admitted to being a little inebriated and surprised by the honour. “I’m drunk and a lame old white lady,” she said, to a tittering crowd.

The other ladies singled out for honours were Mindy Kaling, Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, writer Lena Waithe, director Melina Matsoukas and actor Jodie Turner-Smith of upcoming film Queen & Slim, described as “Bonnie and Clyde for the Black Lives Matter era”, Zendaya, Scarlett Johansson and Dolly Parton.

Portman is starring in upcoming film Lucy In The Sky in which she plays an astronaut who has a hard time readjusting to normal life once she returns from her mission.

“The experience of playing this character made me yearn for a woman’s right to fuck up,” said Portman in a powerful speech. “To fuck up and not be interminably punished for it. Because we know, as we tell our kids, that making mistakes is the only way we learn. And we know that the biggest moments of our growth come out of our worst blunders. And if we have to play it safe to avoid mistakes, to avoid the severity of consequences for women who make mistakes, we can never be all that we potentially could be.”

Nearly all the attendees wore black in solidarity with the Time’s Up movement, calling out sexual discrimination, harassment and assault. Kidman was reunited at the event with Margot Robbie and Charlize Theron, her co-stars of Bombshell, the upcoming film about the downfall of former Fox News boss Roger Ailes following allegations of sexual harrassment.

Theron posted a snap of the three actresses together on Instagram recently, captioning it: “I feel like I have to be honest. I’m in a new relationship. With both these ladies. For real.”
