He’s the Australian Fashion Laureate winner celebrities turn to for chic red carpet dressing, but while Toni Maticevski was notably absent from the local fashion week line-up in May, the Melbourne-based designer has been busy expanding his global brand.

Following up news of his first leather-goods line, as revealed on GRAZIA last week, the feted 41-year-old has this week unveiled his Resort 2019 collection to buyers and media in Paris.

True to reputation, the range is both masterfully-tailored and fashion-forward, relying for the most part on clever folding and sexy, striking silhouettes for wow-factor, rather than bold prints or embellishment.

“Gone are the days when we really curate and refine a look,” says Maticevski. “We throw on a sneaker with a ball skirt, pair it with a sweatshirt and on top of all this, we add a statement-making necklace or bag. This is the clashing reality of today, of the Maticevski woman and of the collection,” he adds.

The comprehensive collection, inspired by the idea of a flamenco dancer “in all her alluring, captivating, spellbinding glory” will be available from November.
