First there was velvet dresses on the Autumn 2016 catwalks. Then vintage-looking velvet handbags and ankle boots cropped up on street style stars soon after. Now the fabric best known for suiting castle drapery in winter climes has gone the last place we ever expected possible: minimalist swimwear.

And if there was ever a cult swim brand to make the impossible possible, it was bound to be one that’s already known for being progressive in its choice of fabrics. In this case, we’re talking Triangl, which has long been a fave with models and style stars like Kendall Jenner and Chiara Ferragni, thanks to its clever combos of bright neoprene and ribbon detailing.

Triangl, Torri Dance Swimsuit in Hot Pink, $107. SHOP NOW

Late last year, the Aussie-owned brand launched its first range of one-piece swimsuits which attracted widespread attention (given the neon colours and cheekily-placed flower patches, they were hard to miss).

This week, its taken that one-piece movement a step further with a new collection featuring two golden ’90s-throwback styles: one a super-high leg cut with cut-out sides called Jarah, the other a low back retro look suit made of beautiful Italian velvet called Torri that’s set to spark a social media frenzy.

Each retails for $107 on Triangl’s online store. The Torri comes in purple, silver and a show-stopping hot pink that’s the ideal antidote to any back to work blues.
