Let there be no doubt that skin is in; textured, imperfect, unfiltered, real skin. In support of this, light, natural, anti-foundations are coming in thick and fast, and we’re into it. It’s not about coverage per see, but rather subtly improving tone and texture, while adding a healthy dose of radiance.

If we’re speaking your love language, put down the brush and step away from the pigments. New wave options come in all shapes and sizes, whether that’s in concealer form, water tint, or spiked with skincare. A glowy, hydrated complexion that looks natural? Turns out you really can have it all.

Chanel Les Beiges Eau De Teint

Chanel’s Les Beiges Eau De Teint is the ultimate in anti-coverage. It’s light and fluid, just like water, and feels almost weightless upon application. It’s not a foundation, but not a skincare product – rather somewhere comfortably in between. It evens things out just a touch, leaving you fresh-faced and incredibly hydrated.

Kosas Tinted Face Oil

Glossy skin is our skin of choice, and Kosas’ Tinted Face Oil delivers gloss is spades. The skincare-makeup hybrid is a treat for drier types, as it’s packed with nourishing oils like jojoba and avocado. If you’re oily though, no need to be scared. The fatty acids will help to balance you out (avoiding oils if you’re oily will only confuse your skin further, thus encouraging more oil production). The coverage is light, but more noticeable than the aforementioned Chanel. It’s silky on your fingers, but melts into skin like butter.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

It’s 2019; the year of using concealer as foundation. Tarte Shape Tape is perfect for the task as it’s creamy, blendable, and comes in a generous tube. Use the applicator to pat some around the nose, chin, under the eyes and around your brows, before blending out with a damp sponge. Bonus points as it fits in tiny purses.
