Tyra Banks is returning to host a new season of America’s Next Top Model on VH1. The co-creator of the competition series took a one-season hiatus when the show shifted from its 12-year (and 22 season) home at CW to the new channel. Rita Ora took over as host.
The announcement comes on the heels that Banks will also be the new host of America’s Got Talent, a role previously held by Nick Cannon.
“I’m overwhelmed and humbled by the intensity of the ANTM fan base whose deep affection for the show led me to have a change of heart,” said Banks. “After giving it a lot of thought, I realised that remaining behind the camera wasn’t enough because ANTM is woven into my DNA.”
While Ora did a great job, audiences yearned for the realer-than-real bite of the show’s former host and supermodel. Slapping down any contestant with an ego, Banks was simultaneously an empowering figure for the young models. She was also responsible for this piece of television gold:
