It’s that time of the year again when the fashion and beauty coverage turns away from the amped up glitz of the VMAs and swivels to the gowns, and Italian charm that is the Venice Film Festival.

Taking place from the 31st of August to the 10th of September the festival is attended by international actresses, models, socialites, and paparazzi alike, with films screened a prelude to those you’ll be hearing about come Awards season. However from a beauty perspective, located on a sandbank just off Venice, transit to the island is no easy feat, with international punters jetting in before arriving by vaporetti –Venetian water busses, making it the perfect research material for in-transit, jet-setting beauty.

Here are out findings:

English actress Gemma Arterton looks equal parts French Girl chic, and English cool, with a textured bob and oversized Raybans. Simply leave as is,  or refresh limp ends with a touch of texturising product – just make sure to avoid any troubles at the pre-flight security check with a miniature bottle of aerosol-free dry shampoo, and you’ll be ready for any hair conundrum.

Switching her transit-friendly, floaty flock for a Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini bamboo print silk-chiffon maxi during a photo shoot, Victoria’s Secret model Barbara Palvin squeezed all the mileage out of her french braided half-up do. Perfect for hiding oily roots for post layover hair. Additionally, observe Palvin’s minimalist take on makeup -a radiance-boosting tinted moisturiser, neutral lipstick, and a bit of lash and brow definition is all you need.
