The first official trailer for the Tomb Raider reboot is here at last.

In the first look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft 2.0, the powerful female protagonist is on a mission to fulfil her late father’s wishes – and save the world.

Oscar winner Vikander is taking over the reins from Angelina Jolie, who played video game character Lara in the original 2001 film and its 2003 sequel.

As you might expect, the Tomb Raider trailer shows Vikander running through the forest, making death-defying jumps over gorges and stalking enemies with weapons.

Speaking to the latest issue of Empire, Vikander said it was time for Lara Croft to get a modern makeover.

“We asked, ‘What are the famous traits of this person? How can we demonstrate them in the story, but make her feel like a young woman in 2018?'”

Tomb Raider hits cinemas in March 2018.
