Sometimes it’s the subtlest of colour shifts that offer the most impact. When the weather is warm, a few honey highlights here or stealth scatterings of sun-kissed strands instantly brings beach vibes to all shades of brunette hair. But if you want to upgrade upgrade your ombre for the new season, layering in some multidimensional and glossy chestnut tones can help give those former hot-weather highlights a chic, wintery vibe. Natalie-Anne for SCHWARZKOPF shows you how to recreate the look.

Step One Divide your hair in half, splitting it perfectly from your forehead, to the nape of your neck and clip one half away
Step Two Divide one half again into four even sections and clip three away
Step Three Working from the back, backcomb along the line of colour from your previous highlights
NATALIE ANNE’S PRO TIP Backcombing will soften the application of colour and help you avoid harsh, demarcation lines
Step Four Apply the colour from the mid-lengths to the ends
STEP FIVE Repeat steps 2-4 on the remaining three sections
Step Six
Moving to the other half of your hair, repeat steps 3-5
Step Seven Once complete, watch and wait for the colour to develop
Step Eight Rinse, condition and style as usual
