There’s no what-to-wear dilemma for celebrities invited to grace the front row at prestigious fashion shows. It’s a given the brand who’ve rolled out the red carpet will also deck out said stars in the necessary finery. That explains why the front row at yesterday’s Gucci Cruise 2018 show, held in one of the world’s most beautiful fine art galleries, was a smorgasbord of the best looks from the brand’s current Pre-fall and past Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter collections. Some went cute, a few went almost conservative and several (oh, hey Jared Leto) jumped feet first into the more outrageous of Alessandro Michele’s Gucci masterpieces.

7 celeb looks we loved most in the FROW

1. Grace banderas Sure, 20-year-old actress Stella Banderas (daughter of Antonio and Melanie Griffith) is cute in this SS17 ivory wool mini-dress with leather bows, and half-sister…

2. Dakota Johnson can do no wrong in a hero jacquard dress from the AW17 collection with bejewelled flats and velvet GG Marmont bag. But it’s the 27-year-old Fifty Shades star’s younger half-sister…

3. Grace Johnson (daughter of Don and Kelley Phleger) who won by a silk mile. Embroidered pyjama suit with frayed trousers from the SS17 range, with gold cheery sandals and red leather Marmont 2.0 bag and a matching bold lip? Style winner and at just 17 years of age too. Watch out: fashion has a new muse.

4. Donald Glover For a prolific artist, this actor, producer, writer, singer, rapper, comedian clearly has relatively classic fashion tastes. The award-winning Atlanta star wore a printed white cotton shirt, navy wool shorts, white leather Ace sneakers, thin leather belt and a cheeky white boater. Hamptons, he’s ready.

5. Saoirse Ronan She may have “played a fiddle in an Irish band, but fell in love with an English man”, but this Galway Girl certainly has exotic aesthetic taste. Atonement star Ronan, who recently fronted Ed Sheerin’s music video ode to urban Ireland, shone in a long-sleeve purple and gold jacquard dress with GG Marmont platinum high heel sandals.

6. Laura Love Born into fashion royalty (her mother is the west coast editor for US Vogue), this American model wore a current Pre-Fall 2017 look of black leather jacket with jewelled bows, with matching skirt and sandals. A red brocade mini Sylvie ticked the colour pop box. Rock chick with a cute twist.

7. Jared Leto needs no introduction and few words. The Oscar winner is a regular fixture at Gucci’s events and never shy of tackling some of Michele’s more ostentatious looks, a la this AW17 crushed velvet robe, blue and red silk shirt with bee detail, yellow technical jersey trousers with red stripe and silver high top sneakers. Behold proof that real men can wear lavender.

8. Miriam Leone Winner of the Miss Italy 2008 crown (she is to her nation what Jennifer Hawkins is to ours), television presenter Leone won in the beauty stakes as well as the style ones. A soft pink eye, peach cheek and neutral lip were the perfect balance to her pink iridescent silk ruffle blouse from the SS17 collection.

9. Risa Nakamura We [heart] everything about Japanese model and social media star Risa Nakamura’s outfit of choice, from the red and white leather studded high heels upward. Pink tech jersey leggings clashed against a red chain-printed dress from the current Pre-Fall collection, with purple velvet Dionysus bag.
