When Naomi Campbell released her 496-page Taschen tome book, the one that retails for US$1750 on April 7, Bella Hadid was at her side. She posted this photo on her Instagram captioned, “My mentor. My angel. I love you! Congratulations on your book. You deserve it all. Greatest in the world.”

Clearly it was not a one-sided adoration. Campbell shared the same picture calling Hadid her “mentee” and adding “it’s a pleasure to share with you #brightrisingstar”. The same week, Campbell appeared on The Wendy Show and talked about her relationship with the 20-year-old Hadid. “Bella asked me last year if I’d mentor her, and I said yes,” she said. “I love Bella and Gigi, their great girls, they’re hardworking girls and we were up in my hotel in the hallway. The hallway was the runway, people were coming out of the elevators and I was like, ‘Keep going, don’t stop! That’s your audience, give me some edge!’ And I was like, ‘Bella, if someone says something to you, what body language do you have? Now give me some attitude’. It was really fun, they were great. I’m happy to help them in any way and I’m happy to share myself.”

In Sydney this week to walk in the Misha Collection resort 17 show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, Hadid spoke exclusively to GRAZIA about Campbell, praising her mentor for teaching her everything she knows.

“[Naomi and I] have long talks at least twice a week,” says Hadid.

“She always tells me, ‘Make sure you get every single shot. Keep going until you get the last shot and if they want more shots, keep doing the shots and keep doing them over and over again until you get the perfect shot. Make sure you look great in the shot! She wants every single shot to be incredible and iconic so she definitely tells me to keep going with that.”
