Kanye West dropped a new song, a spiritually-themed track titled Water, at his “Sunday Service” at Coachella overnight. “This a new joint right here, it’s called Water,” West told the crowd as he transitioned from the Gospel rendition of his hit All Falls Down.

Originally set to headline the festival, the 41-year-old pulled out after Coachella reportedly refused to make him a custom dome. According to on ground reports, however, it appears West built a man-made mountain for himself and dozens of robe-clad musicians, singers and dancers to perform on. Festival goers had to walk a fair way to reach the camp ground and there they could purchase breakfast – orange juice, coffee, smoothies, chicken, waffles and breakfast burritos – and “Church clothes” including socks that read “Trust God”.

For those not able to make it to Indio instead live-streamed the soulful vocals on Coachella’s YouTube channel. But it was edited in a way which meant the remote viewer was watching the performance through what felt like a peephole. Lots of people on social media pointed out the similarities to the fictional world of the 1990s children’s television show Teletubbies. And while Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po were not in attendance, all of the Kardashians were who pretty much roll around with televisions in their stomachs anyway and make the same little noises (okkkkkuurrrr) as the coloured creatures.

The rapper’s “Sunday Service” has been a thing for a little while. Since late January, West and his friends would gather to perform outdoors and artists Chance The Rapper, Kid Cudi and DMX joined him for his special Coachella version. Teyana Taylor also performed her West-produced track Never Would Have Made It.

It’s uncertain if the track will appear on West’s fourthcoming album Yandhi.
