While Meghan Markle wore Givenchy (just as she did at her own Royal Wedding), the Queen wore lime green (too, like she did at the Royal Wedding). But there was an important meaning being the bold colour choice; reports are suggesting it may have been to honour the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire.

The incident killed 72 people on June 15, 2017, when a fire ravaged a 24-storey residential block in North Kensington in London. Many prominent buildings, including Buckingham Palace, were lit up in green to honour those who lost their lives. As Markle and The Queen visited the town of Chester, they both stopped to honour the victims with 72 seconds of silence.

Across the seas, President Donald Trump turned 72-years-old and to celebrate, Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend donated $72,000 from each of their family members (including children Luna and Miles) to the American Civil Liberties Union – an organisation set up to hold the Trump administration accountable whenever possible.

“John and I are outraged to see and hear the horror stories of immigrant families seeking asylum and refuge in America being ripped apart due to the inhumane policies of the Trump administration,” the model wrote in a note posted on Instagram.

“These actions are cruel, anti-family and go against everything we believe this country should represent,” she continued.

So, “in order to make Trump’s Birthday Great Again,” each member of her family has donated $72,000 to the ACLU, bringing the total donation to $288,000 for the couple and their two young children, Luna and Miles.”
