We imagine it’s much like the famous Miranda Priestly-arrival scene in The Devil Wears Prada. Where a zoo of panicked  fashion types scurry to prepare for the imminent arrival of their matriarch. There’s no room for error because she’s seen it all before. She’s one step ahead of everyone, so for goodness sake be ready.

The arrival of a Kate Moss or a Naomi Campbell to well, anywhere, would make for a head-turning (if slightly unnerving) event. Their reputations precede them, and whether fictitious or not, decades of rumours of wild nights, huge fights, extensive demands and volatile behaviour rolls parallel to their fashion pedestal. As two of the original 90s supermodels Moss, 45 and Campbell, 48, both UK natives, are never far from the press whenever they make an emergence. However, unlike the 90s and 00s, their public appearances have become ever more rare, and in turn, all the more valuable.

With Paris Couture Week in full swing, following last week’s Paris Men’s Fashion Week, Moss and Campbell have been front and centre, creating chatter and style notes everywhere they go. Naomi Campbell has been street-styling a bobbed ‘fro and chic attire before last night making international headlines as she returned to the catwalk for Valentino. Closing Pierpaolo Picciolo’s show in a breathtaking, sheer black gown.

While Moss hasn’t made a catwalk encore just yet, she has brought plenty of style to street and to the front row at Dior. Her street looks encompassing layerings of black, leopard and velvet that make for instant trend-setting. The supermodel even upping the chatter by stepping out with original ‘Primrose Hill Set’ bestie Sadie Frost. Oh the nostalgia.

If this is all still part of some kind of intergalactic-planetary-2009-returns thing, we’re here for it. And in an unexpected twist, so is ex-One Directioner Liam Payne. The 25-year-old singer commenting on Campbell’s Instagram selfie a few days ago “Perfection in a person…don’t give me those eyes.”

The model also commented on one of Payne’s pictures “Beautiful soul.” Read into that flirt-athon what you will, either way here’s to more from the women that paved such an influential path for fashion as we know it.
