Amongst the glitter of the Golden Globes, there was one defining beauty moment which captured our attention: Margot Robbie’s sun-drenched selfie. Radiant, glowing and flooded in natural light, the photo posted by makeup artist Pati Dubroff has gone viral. And for good reason: Robbie looks like an ethereal, golden dreamboat. Smooth glowing skin (a little Facetune may have also helped the cause here), shiny flaxen hair and that ephemeral twinkle in her eye; she glistened in all the right places. Teeming with light, she beamed.
Then, a couple of hours later, Taylor Hill’s sunlit selfie surfaced on Instagram. Equally aglow in the Californian sun, Hill is saturated in sunlight against a backdrop of palms and perfectly placed shadow. Casting the perfect light to show off her incredible makeup (by none other than master Hung Vanngo); hot pink lids and a rich red lip are thrown into the spotlight (or sunlight) with the ultimate razzle dazzle.
Then, Jessica Biel. Anther glamorous backseat bandit, Biel is extra sparkly in splices of sunlight; magnifying not only her Bulgari diamonds (sigh), but a chalky brown cat-eye and coral lip with radiant perfection.
All three snaps share a shiny slice of sunlight, positioned perfectly so that it hits the eyes and all the high points of the face (particularly perfect for those who favour a heavy-handed highlighter application). Kira Kira begone, turns out all we need is a dose of natural sunlight and a good angle.
