Every once in a while, even the most seasoned of city warriors are in need of a little sanctuary. For Sydney-siders and visitors alike, the eastern coastline plays hero to some of the best known dining spots. But when the crowded 333 bus route or a lengthy Uber trip is involved to escape the hustle and bustle of the happening metropolis, it can seem like more of a chore than its worth. But what if we let you in a little not-so-secret, er, secret. In fact, there is no need to leave the CBD for an evening R&R session, with the latest private dining experience sitting on the picturesque hub of Sydney’s Darling Harbour.
During the day, Wild Life Sydney Zoo is alive with tourists and locals looking to get up close and personal with Australia’s curious native species. At night however, is where the true magic lies. For when the school excursions and overseas touring groups leave for the day, the inner-city zoo transforms into a private restaurant for two, and a couple of other guests too – namely, wallabies and kangaroos.
For a unique after-hours experience, guests can enjoy after-hours guided tour of Wild Life Sydney Zoo, where a passionate and knowledgeable animal keeper is available to answer any questions. Did you know, kangaroos can live between 8 and 15 years old? The guide then moves into the Kangaroo Walkabout exhibit, where visitors will meet the zoo’s friendly kangaroos Dot, Dawn and Dusk. The trio of animals were orphaned in the wild after their mothers were sadly hit by a cars. Unable to survive on their own, they were rescued and brought to Wild Life Sydney Zoo where a team of keepers now care for them.
As the sun sets, guests will enjoy an intimate meal for two from the kangaroo viewing area. After dinner, the experience will continue the journey to the Koala Rooftop, where dessert will be served. In accompaniment, guests are given the chance to visit the koalas, as a guide takes you inside their enclosure, for an up-close encounter.
