As Gigi Hadid is hitting the runway for Bottega Veneta in New York City, her mother Yolanda Hadid is busy promoting the U.K. reveal of her new show, Making A Model. And what better way to drum up some headlining publicity for a new venture then to talk about the rumoured engagement of her supermodel daughter to boyfriend Zayn Malik. (We know, we didn’t hear about it either until just now. Funny that.)
“When you raise your children, I hope I instilled the best in them to make the right choices and turn to me and say ‘I love this man’ then I’m going to love them too,” Hadid said referring to Gigi and Zayn. “He’s a beautiful human being from Bradford, England,’ she explained. He’s from the same background that I’m from, him and I get along great and he’s like a son to me. It’s all good. He has no family here and he’s so far away so I understand that life because I lived that life. I think that I’m just a momma to him.”
Addressing engagement rumours, Hadid remained tight lipped saying “We’ll see, I truly believe they’re all on their own journey. It’s not in my hands anymore so I’m just sitting back and letting it all unfold.”
Malik was engaged to marry Little Mix popstar Perrie Edwards. But after four years together, the relationship ended, reportedly with Malik ending things over text message.
