Say what you will about whether Kim Kardashian should be inside the White House, but an American newspaper used the story as an excuse for indefensible sexism.
The morning after Kardashian met with Donald Trump to discuss criminal justice reform and the case of one woman in particular, the New York Post’s ran this front page:
The cover lines refer to Kim’s “rump” and call the meeting a “big ass summit”, and call her “Kim Thong Un,” the latter two making a lame reference to Trump’s expected summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
You know. Because they’re both called Kim.
The cover lines indicate that the editors at the New York Post don’t believe a woman who has ever posed naked has any value to do anything else, ever again.
“This is unacceptable sexism. No woman deserves this,” tweeted Alyssa Milano in response.
“This seems very mean spirited against someone who was just trying to advocate for criminal justice reform,” said journalist Saagar Enjeti.
“Can we just stand back for a moment and acknowledge the sexism of this headline? @KimKardashian is far from the first celebrity to understand the power of using her spotlight to call attention to a serious issue,” said Washington Post reporter Karen Tumulty.

Kim used her time with Trump to bring his attention to the plight of Alice Marie Johnson, a 62-year-old woman serving a life sentence for a non-violent first offence. She was as a communicator for a drug ring, and has served 21 years with no option for parole.
