Zac Posen is the latest designer refusing to dress First Lady Melania Trump and her family, as America’s political divide only continues to deepen.

Speaking to the Daily Beast, the designer, who has dressed countless A-listers including Rihanna, Diane Kruger and Natalie Portman, said there was no chance we’ll see Melania Trump wearing a Zac Posen outfit anytime soon.

“[I have] no current plans to dress members of the first family … Right now, I’m staying away from bringing my brand into politics.”

The esteemed American designer seemed to indicate he did not want his brand associated with the Trumps, an administration that has been criticised for its treatment of the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and immigrants, and under which hate crimes against the Jewish community have risen sharply.

Posen himself is gay and Jewish.

“There are issues that are being questioned that are fundamentally upsetting to me — deeply: LGBT rights, immigration, funding for the arts, Planned Parenthood and women’s rights. These are just issues that are very close to my heart, and I use my own private voice and funds to fight for them and in support of them.”

He’s just the latest designer refusing to be associated with America’s first family. In November, Tom Ford told U.S. Talk Show The View he had no interest in dressing Melania, an opinion aligned with fellow designers Phillip Lim and Derek Lam.

“I was asked to dress [Melania] quite a few years ago and I declined,” Ford said. “She’s not necessarily my image. Other than that fact that I’m a Democrat and voted for Hillary… she shouldn’t be wearing my clothes, they’re too expensive. And I don’t mean that in a bad way… I think [Melania should wear clothes that] relate to everybody.”
